Structo Toy Company began around 1908. By 1915 Structo was producing “Erector Sets” and marketed by A.C. Gilbert. By 1918 Structo started producing their Ready Built line and continued to produce some of the finest steel toys in the world.
Surviving the Great Depression, Structo produced toys in the $1.25 - $5.00 range. The surviving toys of this era are very hard to find and will bring quite a bit of money.
Production of steel toys continued until 1942. Structo converted to war production making shells, armor and storage tanks for the military.

The most Popular and Valuable Classic Train was made by the Lionel Corporation in New York City. The Lionel Train is still to this day the Most sought after Toy Train on the Planet. Modern Lionel Model Trains are made in China and are not recommended for the serious collector for many reasons...First and Foremost is because They are made in China. I will not elaborate further as The Junk Collector does not endorse Products made outside of the United States then Brought into this country for re-sale....Very Sad Indeed

There are a few Companies based in the United States that sell Model Trains with American Road Names ( Santa Fe, Union Pacific etc) that Sound like an American Company but read the Tiny Print mostly hidden on the Box somewhere. Most likely they are made in a Foreign country that Hates America and Americans but of course Love's our Money $$$$$$$
